Health Update and Prayer Request from our President, Keith

Greetings to all our Leaders, students, supporters and friends of Langley Institute of Ministry. Thank you for all you do to enable us to continue our core vision of creating leaders and making disciples over the past six years.
Many of you will already know that in June 2023, I suffered a significant set back regarding my health and after many tests and medication I have at last had an urgent referral to see a Consultant Cardiologist on the afternoon of 2nd February.
I would ask for your prayers that a clear diagnosis be given and that I would receive the treatment I really need.
Of course we continue to ask the Lord to to heal, but I firmly believe that often his healing comes through the skills of good doctors and surgeons.
We can do nothing better than place our lives in His hands – hallelujah!

URGENT PRAYER NEED

23rd December 2023

Graduation in Kigali. What a joy to witness the graduation of these pastors and leaders in Rwanda receiving their Diplomas in Theology yesterday. The Government there are now insisting on such a qualification from an accredited institution of all pastors. This is both of huge challenge for them and yet a great opportunity also for Langley Institute of Ministry. Our massive thanks to our National Leader there Gamariel Ndereyimana for his total dedication to this ministry along with his wife Gloriose who also graduated on 22nd.

A couple of days ago, along with our LIM leaders, our President had the privilege of bringing a little sunshine into the lives of families blighted by bonded slavery – making bricks for up to 10 hours a day with very little reward. LIM, with the inspirational leadership of Rev Asher Bhatti, gave christmas gifts as well as food to many children and parents. Of course Keith was not actually there, but they are huddled around Asher’s laptop watching as he unpacked the christmas story with his special guests – Tigger & Poo Bear – something he loves doing.

Jarranwala Graduation – It was such a joy for me to speak as President this morning at our very first graduation service in Jarranwala, Pakistan. In fact this was the very first graduation anyone had witnessed in their town, a place that recently experienced violent extremists that set light to many Christian’s homes and over 25 churches. This graduation event however brought much joy and hope right into the community. It also brought much happiness to 30 of our LIM students now clutching their Diploma in Theology certificates. I am very grateful to our leaders that enabled this to happen, especially the hard work of our LIM Tutor and interpreter Pastor Naseeb Yaqoob. Some of our Leader Graduates will go on now to study for our B.Th or B.Min degree. We are always indebted to our faithful and generous LIM supporters – thank you all.

Global Leader Summit – This strategic Zoom meeting enabled us to receive feedback from our leaders in Africa and Asia, it also enabled them to share the problems and opportunities they face in their countries. For the first time individual leaders could sense that they were a part of the whole Langley Institute of Ministry team. Mark and I as leaders in England could flesh out our important plans for the future and help them to see how significant they are in the fulfillment of these plans. We look forward to receiving all the feedback forms from them.

Jarranwala, Pakistan – Such a joy to teach our young LIM students in Faisalabad, so recently devastated my the mindless thugs who torched over 30 churches and 80 Christian homes. But today was a good day, they are clutching their new bibles, sitting in a refurbished room, on a new carpet and the fascia of their humble church is being restored. I raise my hat to our leader there Pastor Naseeb Yaqoob our LIM leader and translator, as well as our generous supporters – thank you! See their Graduation above.

Gullalamoda, India – Here is one of our leaders in India entertaining a nearby village with the Jesus film which is a big hit and been translated into hundreds of other languages.

Sri Lanka – Another Tuesday teaching 116 leaders in Sri Lanka gathered on Zoom from 19 of their 25 zones. After they graduate in November this year many leaders will establish LIM centres in their own regions. Our curriculum is now being translated into Sinhalese and Tamil.

PURI, INDIA – So pleased to share that one of our leaders was involved in leading her father to Christ after many years of opposition. He had become very ill but after prayer his kidney began to work again and he accepted Jesus as his saviour. Father and daughter are now truly reconciled and on the same path.

B.Th. (Hons) validation, UK – We are delighted to announce that after another assessment of our course by the Dayspring International University in India, we are able to award honours degrees to suitable students. As well as completing all 11 modules of our B.Th/B.Min degree and their associated questionnaires, students can opt to write two essays, chosen from a list of ten. More details may be found on our Core Curriculum page.

SHAMSHA, PAKISTAN – On Saturday our National Leader Pastor Mushtaq Masih conducted the graduation service and our president spoke on 2 Corinthians 5. ‘Surviving in Ministry when life is hard’. Many new students enrolled for the next classes.

KIGALI, RWANDA – This weekend our students will be sharing food and the gospel with sex workers in the city. In Langley Institute we not only teach the bible to our students but want Christian truth to propel them into mission.

LAHORE, PAKISTAN – Here is one of our Life Ministries which is lead by Mushtaq and his wife Maryam in Lahore. This ministry is bearing much fruit by training women who can then begin to become bread-winners for their families. They are also taught from the bible.

LALITPUR, NEPAL -Yesterday we had the joy of witnessing 18 of our students graduate with our Diploma in Theology. The service was conducted by our National Leader Pastor Barnabas Pandit who also translated our President’s message. It was so good to see the church packed with local leaders and families. They enjoyed their lunch also! Two of our leaders are from Pokhara and attend our classes remotely, they want us to start a LIM centre there soon.

JARANAWALA, FAISALABAD, PAKISTAN – Here Pastor Naseeb Yaqoob is teaching our class last Monday. These students have no other opportunity to study the bible at this depth in the village. Naseeb alternates this weekly class with our President Keith.

MAHAMA DISTRICT, RWANDA– Yesterday we launched our new ministry amongst 30 refugees. Our Tutor, Gamariel Ndereyimana, a LIM graduate, writes, “Good morning brother,it was amazing time yesterday, leaders enjoyed and gave praise for they are so excited to join LIM studies as they felt undeserved because of they are hopeless as refugees” Our students look forward to a better future.

TIGIANA, KENYA – Today our President was teaching our students from Module 10/5 – ‘Honour your Father and Mother’. Many of them are pastors and evangelists. It is wonderful to see them so hungry to be fed with the word of God.
